MBUK’s best things of 2011! Plus our new year resolutions #4

Fabien Barel, riding in Les Gets, and brand new Mondraker bikes

During the run-up to Christmas (read, that time when we all vacate the office and forget we have jobs for a week-and-a-half), the MBUK team have been looking back on our favourite things of 2011, and looking ahead and making plans for 2012.

Next up, here’s Weavs…

MY BEST THINGS OF 2011…

It’s tough to pick just one highlight from 2011 as we’re in such a privileged position, we get to do a hell of a lot of amazing stuff!

Getting to ride with Fabien Barel back in March was certainly a treat. His home trails are amazing as his riding.

After doing the Megavalanche this year, Rob's got the taste for riding 160mm travel bikes as fast as possible!

Then there’s the Lapierre camp out in Lets Gets. Riding all the new and improved bikes on some of the most fun tracks in Europe.

But the highlight for me has to be my recent trip to Alicante, Spain. We headed out to check out the 2012 range of Mondraker bikes and were surprised when they asked us to test their new 2013 geometry and give our honest feedback.

The riding was great and I really got to indulge the bike geek inside me!

MY NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS AND PLANS FOR 2012…

I’m planning on getting to as many of the Gravity Enduro races as possible this year.

It’ll be a different challenge from the usual downhill events for me but after surviving the Mega, I’ve certainly got a taste for riding 160mm travel bikes as fast as possible!

I know I’ll need to work on my fitness but I’m looking forward to it already.

Other than the racing, I’m keen to just get as much time in on as many different bikes as possible (even some 29ers) and testing the living sh*t out of them.

Last but not least in this mini-series is Jamer – watch out for him tomorrow!
