Madison Genesis announce 2013 lineup
A blend of youth and experience will be the key to success for the Madison Genesis team in 2013 after the squad for the British team was revealed today. Half of the ten-man squad for next season are U23 riders as the team looks to make the step up to UCI Continental level.
Part of the team’s ethos is to nurture young talent and develop the careers of young riders who can be the next generation of champions on the road. Many of them, such as Sebastian Baylis and Alex Peters, are making their first moves to a full-time professional team. They will look to utilise the experience of new teammates like Dean Downing and Team GB track star Andy Tennant, who will provide them with a leg up onto the next rung of the pro ladder.
“The last few months have been inspiring,” said Roger Hammond, Madison Genesis Team Manager.
“To start with a blank sheet of paper and go talent spotting to find some incredible U23 riders and to be given the opportunity to sign well known British names has been great. When Madison Genesis was announced, we were contacted by many young British riders looking for a chance to shine and I have enjoyed finding out what a depth of talent we have in this country.
“This team is a well-considered selection and we can’t wait to get racing. The structure includes 5 U23 riders combined with very experienced riders so we can pass on their knowledge as well as develop them further.”
Madison Genesis Squad for 2013: Dean Downing, Andy Tennant, Ian Bibby, Sebastian Baylis, Alex Peters, Brennan Townshend, Dominic Jelfs, Jack Pullar, Liam Holohan and Chris Snook.
