Leave Bala on the Trawsfynydd road, then turn left onto Rhyd Uchaf road after 1km. Straight across A4212 following B4391 heading in the direction of Ffestiniog.

Turn left on descent down narrow road to A470. Straight across on back road then curve left and then turn right onto the A470. To minimise traffic exposure turn left after 300m taking a back road loop and then back down to the A470. If you’re riding when the traffic’s quiet stay on the main road and turn left to Trawsfynydd.

Ride down the cycle path past Trawsfynydd power station and village. After several miles turn left up singletrack road marked NCN 82

Turn left rather than dropping down to the bridge. Follow road over the top and down to the A494.Turn right for 500m then turn left into Llanuwchllyn. Turn left over the bridge in the village then sharp right up the switchback on the road marked ‘Unsuitable for caravans’.

Climb upwards for 8.5km, over the top to the Bwlch y Groes junction. The Dinas Mawddwy challenge descent/climb is straight on but if you haven’t the time or don’t fancy the traffic turn left to Vyrnwy.

Turn right on the lakeside road and loop round Llyn Efyrnwy anti-clockwise over the dam.

Once past the lake turn right at Rhiwargor and climb upwards through the woods. Drop over the other side, following the valley down to Rhos y Gwaliau.

Turn left over the last kicker then drop down to the B4391 just 2km before the end. Roll into Bala and finish.
